The Dallas Mavericks are starting to prepare for the 2025-26 NBA season. After missing the playoffs last season, Dallas is looking to get back to the playoffs and make some noise.
One player who will need to be ready for the 2025-26 season is Anthony Davis.
Davis underwent eye surgery in the offseason and will need to wear goggles for the rest of his career. Despite all of that, is there anything else that this fanbase should be concerned about?

Mavericks fans concerned about Anthony Davis gaining weight
A photo of Davis in a Mavericks practice uniform has gone viral because fans believe the 10-time All-Star looks heavier than last season.
There is a good reason for that. Since last year's training camp with the Los Angeles Lakers, Davis has officially gained 15 pounds, going from 253 pounds to 268 pounds.
There were complaints that Luka Doncic was out of shape with the Mavericks and now he is in great shape with the Lakers. Dallas fans are concerned that the 32-year-old power forward may be out of shape as the 2025-26 NBA season approaches.
Maybe it isn't Luka's fault he ballooned in Dallas, there's good eating in Texas compared to LA.

They traded ‘fat Luka’ who got fit…. for a fit Davis who got ‘fat’.

He's looking more like Andre Drummond, but neither of them are fat or out of shape. Muscle weighs more than fat, and that's what it looks like to me.

Hopefully, when the games begin, Davis doesn't show that he is out of shape. He has not been on the court much this summer because of the eye surgery. Dallas will need him to be in game shape when it begins the season on Oct. 22 against the San Antonio Spurs.
During the 2024-25 season with the Lakers and the Mavericks, Davis averaged 24.7 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.2 steals per game. He shot 51.6 percent from the field in 51 games played.
The Mavericks need Davis to stay healthy for the majority of the season, but the story before the season begins will be about his weight and whether or not he is in game shape.
