The Josh Giddey contract stand-off could be nearing a conclusion, with the Australian looking likely to return to the Windy City.
After the team traded for him during last off-season, it was widely expected that he would be an immediate signing, with the Bulls projecting him as their point guard of the future.
However, negotiations between the two parties were much more strained than initially thought, but the team is reportedly close to bringing back their man.
Josh Giddey expected to re-sign with Chicago Bulls by end of August
It appears that Giddey and the Bulls may be nearing a deal, ending a drawn out negotiating process.
According to ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel, the two parties are expected to reach an agreement by the end of the month.
"Josh Giddey and the Chicago Bulls are expected to reach a resolution on a new contract, likely in the three-year range, by the end of August," Siegel wrote.
"The Bulls could increase their offer, but they have stood firm on keeping a new deal in the $20 million AAV range.
"The latest speculation from agents not involved in negotiations suggests something in the $65 million to $70 million range."
While this is a considerable drop from Giddey's reported initial asking price of five years, US$150 million, it is a formidable deal that will keep the Australian in Chicago as they look to build a high octance offence around the talents of himself, Coby White, Matas Buzelis, and Noa Essengue.
