Boston Red Sox top prospect Franklin Arias is a shortstop and has played for three different minor league baseball teams in 2025. He was recently called up to Double-A and is with the Portland Sea Dogs.
Arias is 19 years old and was signed as an international free agent on January 15, 2023. In just his third game with Portland, he hit a three-run homer on Thursday night against the Erie Seawolves (Detroit Tigers Double-A Affiliate). The Seadogs won the game over the Seawolves by a final score of 13-2.

This was just his third game with Portland at the Double-A level. The Seadogs are currently in the playoff hunt in the Eastern League. Portland will have three more games in this series against Erie.
Boston Red Sox Top Prospect Franklin Arias Has Not Hit Many Home Runs This Season
Arias is the 23rd ranked prospect on mlb.com in the Top 100. What makes him special is that he does so many things well, but he hasn't shown a lot of power in the minor leagues this season. Arias has played for the Salem Red Sox in Single-A, and he has also played for Greenville Drive in High-A.
In 109 games played at the minor league level this season, Arias has a .281 batting average with seven home runs and 62 RBIs, along with 11 stolen bases. His on-base percentage is .343. Arias is projected to reach the MLB level in 2027. He will start the 2026 season with the Sea Dogs. It will be interesting to see when he will move up from Portland to Triple-A Worcester Red Sox. Arias will need to develop more power in the minor leagues, but seeing a home run against the Seawolves was exciting to see.
