In a game where every run mattered, Josh Inglis picked the bold route as he went after one of the most dangerous bowlers in the world.

The moment came during the high-stakes Qualifier 2 match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Mumbai Indians had posted a strong total of 204, and Punjab Kings were under pressure from the start. Prabhsimran Singh, who had been in brilliant form, fell early in the third over. But then came Inglis.

IPL 2025: Josh Inglis smashes 20 runs off Jasprit Bumrah's over

Jasprit Bumrah, the go-to man in tight situations for MI, was brought in for the fifth over. Most batters treat his spell with caution by either playing him out or looking for singles. But Inglis had other ideas.

He started the over with a solid boundary, showing he wasn’t going to play defensively. After a dot ball, he launched a massive six that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Bumrah tried to regroup, but Inglis was locked in. The fifth ball went for another four, and then he ended the over with a powerful six straight over the bowler’s head.

That one over cost MI 20 runs - Bumrah's most expensive over of the 2025 season. It was a huge momentum shift.

Why did Josh Inglis’ batting remind fans of Sam Konstas?

Interestingly, many fans on social media were quick to draw comparisons with Sam Konstas, the young Australian batter who recently made headlines in Test cricket.

Konstas, only 19 years and 85 days old on his debut, became the second-youngest Aussie to score a fifty in men’s Tests. But more notably, he too had once taken Bumrah to the cleaners.

In one memorable over during a Test, Konstas smashed 18 runs off Bumrah, which was the most expensive over of Bumrah’s Test career.
