Caulfield Cup 2021: Who won, replay, prize money, betting odds image

The Caulfield Cup is one of the Spring Carnival's most anticipated races.

Taking place each October, it's the arguably first major event of the carnival and provides a taster of what's to come at the Melbourne Cup in November.

Verry Elleegant took out the race last year, while Mer De Glace won the 2019 edition.

Here's everything you need to know about the 2021 Caulfield Cup.

INCENTIVISE ROMPS HOME FOR DOMINANT CAULFIELD CUP WIN

Incentivise became the third-shortest favourite to win the Caulfield Cup in a dominant performance on Saturday.

Nonconformist and Persan rounded out the placings but, even from the widest barrier, Incentivise never looked in danger for trainer Peter Moody and jockey Brett Prebble.

The three-and-a-half length win continues an unbelievable year for the five-year-old gelding, who has now won nine consecutive races since breaking his maiden at the Sunshine Coast in April.

Take a look at the finish below.

HOW TO WATCH THE 2021 CAULFIELD CUP?

The 2021 Caulfield Cup will be broadcast nationally on Channel 7

Sky Racing will also broadcast the big race, given its extensive history of showing the Spring Carnival's major races.

2021 CAULFIELD CUP FINAL FIELD AND BARRIERS

The final field for this year's Caulfield Cup has now been confirmed, with 18 runners set to partake in the famous race.

2021 CAULFIELD CUP BETTING ODDS

Incentivise ($2.60) remains favourite but has drifted out in the market after drawing the widest barrier.

There has been plenty of support for Delphi ($8) and Noncomformist ($10) after impressive runs in the lead-up, while Young Werther ($9.50) is also near the top of the market.

Last year's winner Verry Elleegant won't run in this year's race, with trainer Chris Waller instead opting to contend for the Cox Plate.

WHAT CONDITIONS IS THE CAULFIELD CUP RUN UNDER?

The Caulfield Cup is a handicap race run over 2400m and is a Group 1 race.

In 2017 Racing Victoria announced a change in policy around re-handicapping the winner of the Caulfield Cup into the Melbourne Cup.

The winning horse will no longer be re-handicapped for the Melbourne Cup if they have already been allotted a weight of 56kg or more. Additionally, the Caulfield Cup winner will not be handicapped to carry more than 56kg in the Melbourne Cup.

In an effort to promote local horses, the number of races that gain automatic entry for overseas horses to the Caulfield Cup has been halved from 18 to nine.

INCENTIVISE STORMS INTO HEAVY FAVOURITISM AFTER TURNBULL WIN

Incentivise is now a short-priced favourite for the Caulfield Cup after its win in the Turnbull Stakes.

The five-year-old gelding is now $2.25 just two weeks out from the race.
