The Everest prize money breakdown: How much owners, trainer and jockey will earn in 2025 race image

It's not known as "the world's richest race on turf" for nothing.

This year's edition of The Everest goes down at Royal Randwick on Saturday, October 18 and will see 12 of the world's best sprinters compete for a share of $20 million in a 1,200m dash for cash.

Let's break down the financials for this year's race:

Rather than qualify for the race, the 12 runners are selected by slot holders, who pay a $700,000 fee in order to enter their horse into The Everest.

All up, there's AU$20 million on the line. Here's how it breaks down:
