Xander Schauffele will look to defend his title and win the third major of his career, however, the American hasn't been in top form since returning from a rib injury.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is once again a top contender having won three of his last nine tournaments, adding another major to his impressive resume with a win at this year's PGA Championship.

Local favorite and World No. 2 Rory McIlroy is competing in his 16th Open Championship. Having completed a career grand slam by winning the Masters this year, the 36-year-old will look to win the Open Championship for a second time, having won it in 2014.

Bryson DeChambeau has also been in good form in the Majors this season with five top-six finishes.

Justin Thomas has had a promising campaign so far, having risen from World No. 22 to World No. 4 with his impressive outings at the PGA Tour, including a victory at the RBC Heritage. He is the dark horse in the field.
