Socceroos squad: Aaron Mooy and Tom Rogic among star players missing ahead of crunch Saudi Arabia match image

The Socceroos will be without a host of big names when they return to Australia in a key World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia on November 11.

Adam Taggart and Tom Rogic are unavailable through injury, while Aaron Mooy has also been sidelined after being forced to return to China by his club Shanghai Port.

In their absence, Gianni Stensness has earned his first call-up after switching his allegiance from New Zealand to the Socceroos.

Australia-based stars Jamie Maclaren, Andrew Nabbout and Mathew Leckie also return to the fold after sitting out of recent matches due to quarantine restrictions.

The Socceroos' winning streak came to end last time out in a late 2-1 loss against Japan and now trail Saudi Arabia in their group.

But the prospect of playing on home soil again for the first time in over two years, should give the green and gold all the motivation they need to perform.

"The players selected for our upcoming FIFA window are brimming with excitement to return home and to play in front of Australian supporters, as well as their family and friends,” Socceroos coach Graham Arnold said.

"The players will get so much energy from playing in front of a strong home crowd at a first-class stadium."
