Have Roma ever won the Europa League? List of winners of European trophy ahead of Sevilla final image

The first of this season's European finals is upon us, with Roma taking on Sevilla for the Europa League title in Budapest.

Jose Mourinho's side are looking to disrupt Sevilla's dominance in the competition, with the Spanish outfit having lifted the trophy six times since 2006. They've won it twice as many times as any other team in its history.

So can the Serie A team chalk up a title masterminded by Mourinho?

The Sporting News details Roma's history in the Europa League and its predecessor, the UEFA Cup, right here.

Have Roma ever won the Europa League?

The short answer is no, AS Roma have never won the Europa League, nor the UEFA Cup, since the competition began in 1971/72.

Roma have been in the final once, in 1990/91, when they lost over a two-legged tie to fellow Italian side Inter Milan 3-0 on aggregate.

Roma have never been in the final of the competition since it changed its name to the Europa League in 2009.
