One Chelsea player has been left gutted that he failed to secure a move away from the club in the summer transfer window.

The Blues had a busy transfer window, both in terms of incoming and outgoing players. On the other hand, Enzo Maresca now knows the players he will be working with until at least January.

The Italian manager has been left in charge of a young and exciting squad that has made a positive start to the season, winning two out of their first three Premier League matches.

While a number of players managed to secure moves away from Stamford Bridge, there was one player who failed to do so.

And now, that player is left to rue what might have been as he faces the possibility of playing limited football until the January transfer window.

Tyrique George was linked with a deadline-day move to Chelsea’s cross-town rivals, Fulham, but the move collapsed at the eleventh hour.

Tyrique George ‘really sad’ about failed move to Fulham

Fulham agreed to buy Chelsea winger George for £22m. However, the Blues academy graduate failed to get his move in the end.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that George was privately “really sad” with the outcome in the transfer window because he was excited by the idea of a move to Craven Cottage. Reportedly, the 19-year-old attacker could end up leaving in January, depending on how the next few months go.

Romano said via his YouTube channel: “Fulham entered the race on deadline day in the afternoon… Everything was agreed with Chelsea. £22m, an important sell-on clause over 30 per cent, so everything was agreed between the parties. The deal collapsed because of documents not being signed in time.

“Tyrique George was really sad yesterday after what happened because for him it was the opportunity to go and play… In January, he’s going to move again if there is no opportunity in different markets.”

George’s frustration is justified, given that he enjoyed a successful breakout season at the club last season.

However, the winger now finds himself below the likes of Pedro Neto, Estevao Willian, Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho in the wide positions.

Though the youngster can play down the middle as well, he is way more effective on the wing.

The amount of game time George gets in the next few months will go a long way in determining whether or not he has a future at Stamford Bridge.
