Week 14 Fantasy RB Rankings

Week 14 Fantasy RB Rankings image

We recently went through a stretch of minimal running back upheaval, but since the start of Week 12, we've seen Melvin Gordon, James Conner, Matt Breida, and Chris Carson suffer notable injuries, Leonard Fournette get suspended for a game, Alex Collins placed on IR, and Kareem Hunt get released . Never mind all the typical performance-related stuff, those developments alone could send your fantasy playoff-bound squad into turmoil. Our Week 14 fantasy RB rankings does its best to sort through the mess (What's a Jeff Wilson Jr.?), but there's still a lot we don't know early in the week.

For now, we have Conner, Breida, Carson and Kerryon Johnson in our rankings but no Gordon. (Update: Breida is officially out for Week 14.) At this point, any of that group could be active and any could be inactive, so we won't be stingy with the updates throughout the week. Both Conner (@ Raiders), Johnson (@ Cardinals), Gordon (vs. Bengals) will be especially important, as not only are they the best players, but they all have fantastic matchups. If they're out, their backups (Jaylen Samuels, LeGarrette Blount, and Austin Ekeler/Justin Jackson) would be worthwhile sleepers and at least FLEX backs, if not RB2s.

In addition to the injury worries, there have been some downturns in recent weeks for Marlon Mack, Dion Lewis, and Jordan Howard. Mack remains the primary back for his team, giving him borderline RB2 value even in a fairly tough matchup against Houston, but Lewis (vs. Jaguars) and Howard (vs. Rams) seem to be on the shorter end of their committees, albeit in different ways. Lewis is losing touches to Derrick Henry despite having more all-around upside, while Howard is getting more carries than Tarik Cohen despite producing far less. Hopefully you're not relying on any to keep your season alive, as it could be another unpredictable week.

Note: These rankings will be updated during the week, so check back often for the latest analysis and player movement.

WEEK 14 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end

Week 14 Fantasy Rankings: RB

These rankings are for standard, non-PPR leagues

1Christian McCaffrey, Panthers @ Browns
2Alvin Kamara, Saints @ Buccaneers
3Phillip Lindsay, Broncos @ 49ers
4Aaron Jones, Packers vs. Falcons
5James Conner, Steelers @ Raiders. Obviously, Conner (lower leg) will have to be healthy, but as long as he is, he should light up a Raiders run defense that is allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to RBs.
6Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys vs. Eagles
7Saquon Barkley, Giants @ Redskins
WEEK 14 DFS GPP LINEUPS: Yahoo | DraftKings | FanDuel
8Todd Gurley, Rams @ Bears
9David Johnson, Cardinals vs. Lions. Johnson giving way to rookie Chase Edmonds for two short TDs last week was disturbing, but the veteran still had 21 touches compared to only seven for Edmonds. The Lions have been steadily improving against the run, but Todd Gurley reminded us last week that stud backs can still light them up. Expect a bounce-back performance from Johnson.
10Gus Edwards, Ravens @ Chiefs. Even though he was dinged up entering last week's game, Edwards ran 21 times for 82 yards. The results weren't optimal, but the workload was elite. Against the Chiefs, who have been in the top five in fantasy points allowed to RBs most of the year, Edwards has big upside again.
11Kerryon Johnson, Lions @ Cardinals
12Joe Mixon, Bengals @ Chargers
13Nick Chubb, Browns vs. Panthers
14Leonard Fournette, Jaguars @ Titans. Fournette had been on a roll prior to his Week 13 suspension, scoring five times in two-and-a-half games. The Titans are among the toughest teams for RBs to score against, but Fournette's talent and volume still give him a high ceiling.
WEEK 14 DFS CASH LINEUPS: Yahoo | DraftKings | FanDuel
15Adrian Peterson, Redskins vs. Giants
16Tarik Cohen, Bears vs. Rams
17Austin Ekeler, Chargers vs. Bengals. Ekeler was a big disappointment last week (43 total yards), but he did get 18 touches. If Melvin Gordon (knee) is out again, Ekeler should get at least 12 touches against a Bengals defense allowing the most fantasy points to RBs. Justin Jackson could be in line for more carries after showing some burst last week, but Ekeler will still likely lead the way and have major upside.
18Lamar Miller, Texans vs. Colts
19Sony Michel, Patriots @ Dolphins
20Spencer Ware, Chiefs vs. Ravens. Ware totaled 15 touches as Kansas City's starter last week against Oakland, and while he disappointed with 52 total yards, he managed to into the end zone and salvage his fantasy day. A much tougher matchup is on tap with Baltimore, but Ware will still be heavily involved. Given Kansas City's high-powered attack, he's always a threat for a big game and/or a touchdown.
21Mark Ingram, Saints @ Buccaneers
