Following Mumbai Indians' (MI) announcement that Hardik Pandya will be replacing Rohit Sharma as the new captain of the franchise, the Baroda all-rounder joined an exclusive club of players to have captained multiple Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises.

Hardik was the captain of the Gujarat Titans (GT), a new franchise which made their debut in 2022. The 30-year-old guided the Titans to two successive IPL finals and won the trophy in his very first season as captain.
