He became part of a rare and unfortunate group of batters who have scored a duck in their 100th Test.

Let’s take a closer look at what happened in Grenada and revisit the list of players who shared this painful fate in their milestone match.

What happened to Brathwaite against Australia in his 100th Test?

Brathwaite walked in with expectations high, especially after Australia had posted a challenging 286. But the celebration was cut short just eight balls later.

Facing Josh Hazlewood early on Day 1, the West Indies skipper tried to drive a fuller ball outside off. The ball, however, came off the inside half of his bat and went straight back to the bowler. Hazlewood held on, and Brathwaite’s innings was over for 0.

The scoreboard read 7/1 in just the second over, and Brathwaite’s 100th Test was off to a nightmarish start.

Unlike many modern cricketers, Brathwaite has remained committed solely to the Test format. In an era where flashy T20 stars steal headlines, the Barbadian has been a quiet fighter for the traditional game. He’s scored over 5,900 runs, hit 12 centuries, and carried West Indies through many difficult sessions.
