Gout Gout, the rising star of Australian athletics, joins the world's best track and field athletes in Tokyo this month for the World Athletics Championships.

The Queenslander, still just 17 years old, will compete in the men's 200m, looking to build on some impressive recent performances.

A host of other Aussies, Matt Denny (discus), Nicola Olyslagers (high jump) and Jess Hull figure to be among the medals, while overseas superstars such as Noah Lyles, Mondo Duplantis, Faith Kipyegon, Femke Bol and Jakob Ingebrigtsen will all be in action.

What time is Gout Gout running at the World Athletics Championships?

The World Athletics Championships kick off in Tokyo, Japan on Saturday, September 13.

A one-hour time difference between Japan and the east coast of Australia should make for comfortable viewing for Aussie fans.

Gout Gout will first be in action on Wednesday, September 17, with the men's 200m heats getting underway at 9:15pm AEST.

Should he get through that, the youngster will next be out on Thursday, September 18, when the semis get underway at 10:02pm AEST.

The men's 200m final will take place at 11:06pm AEST on Friday, September 19.

How to watch Gout Gout in Australia

The Nine network will have Australian fans covered, with every day of competition set to be broadcast live in Australia.

Check local guides for specific programming, but fans can tune into 9 or 9Gem, from September 13-21 for all the action.

Streaming platform 9Now will also be broadcasting select events.
