West Coast draft assistance: What the Eagles want for upcoming AFL draft image

West Coast has put together a list of assistance it wants for the upcoming AFL National Draft - featuring a request for extra draft selections.

After just missing the finals in 2021, the Eagles have finished 17th, 18th, 16th and 18th in the past four seasons - winning only one game out of 23 in 2025.

West Coast are already building a decent draft hand, holding the no.1 pick, likely the no.2 as compensation when Oscar Allen departs as a free agent and Hawthorn's first-round selection - currently no.13.

However, the Eagles want more assistance to drag themselves out of the mire with journalist Callum Twomey revealing their requests.

West Coast draft assistance requests

  • End of first-round draft selection
  • A draft selection that must be traded
  • Free agency compensation for Oscar Allen not to be diluted if they bring in their own free agent
  • Extra rookie list spots

West Coast will be hoping the example of North Melbourne's recent draft assistance package will assist their request.

The Kangaroos were granted an end-of-first round pick in 2023, two end-of-first round picks in 2024 and two extra rookie list spots.

The two end-of-first round picks for 2024 were given to North Melbourne in 2023 as future selections that they must trade to other clubs.
