Who will present the AFL premiership cup in 2025? Club legends get grand final honour image

Brisbane great Jonathan Brown and Geelong icon Joel Selwood will share the spotlight at the 2025 AFL grand final, with the pair chosen to present the premiership cup to the winning side.

Brown, who led the Lions during his glittering career, will hand the trophy to co-captains Harris Andrews and Lachie Neale if Brisbane go back-to-back.

Selwood, meanwhile, will step forward for Geelong should Patrick Dangerfield’s Cats prevail at the MCG.

Lions pride and Cats loyalty

For Brown, the honour comes with deep emotion. “I have had a love for this club from a very young age, and it is great to still have a connection, because I am still a very proud Lion,” he said in a club statement. “Win or lose, though, I will still be so proud of this group, and I am in awe of them.”

The former forward booted 594 goals across 256 matches and remains a Lion Hall of Fame Legend. His decorated CV includes three best-and-fairest awards, a Coleman Medal and two All-Australian jumpers.

Selwood’s record is equally formidable: a four-time premiership player, six-time All-Australian and three-time club champion. “I’m extremely honoured to be asked to present the premiership cup,” he said. “This club holds a special place in my heart and has been such a big part of my life.”

Both men know the joy of premiership success. On Saturday, they will be on the other side of the fence, carrying the weight of tradition into football’s biggest moment.
