Australian Rules football season is set to close with a blockbuster 2025 AFL Grand Final at the MCG on Saturday. Twelve months ago, it was the Sydney Swans and the Brisbane Lions who battled for the crown, with the latter ultimately lifting the Premiership flag.
The 2025 edition will see the defending Major Premiers, the Lions, face off against 10-time Premiers, the Geelong Cats, who are looking to be crowned for the first time since 2022.
The Cats, who finished second on the ladder, defeated Hawthorn Football Club in the Preliminary Final to make their third Grand Final in five years. Meanwhile, the Lions kept their title defence alive by beating Gold Coast and Collingwood in the Finals week.
The Sporting News is on hand to bring you all the latest team details, TV schedule information, live stream and start times for today's AFL decider.

AFL Grand Final preview
Though this will be their fourth meeting of the year, Geelong and Brisbane will collide in a Grand Final for the very first time. The Lions edged two of the previous three encounters, but the Cats claimed the most recent, a dominant qualifying final win earlier this month.
It is a stage Geelong knows well, featuring in a seventh decider across 19 seasons and chasing a first flag since 2022. Brisbane, meanwhile, enters its third straight Grand Final and hopes to etch its name among the rare back-to-back champions of this century.
Geelong arrives on the back of eight successive wins, peaking at the right time with commanding performances in September. Brisbane had enjoyed four straight victories over the Cats before their qualifying final setback but has battled back into championship reckoning.
