St Kilda have secured the long-term future of Marcus Windhager, with the midfielder signing a four-year contract extension that will keep him in red, white and black until the end of 2029.
The 22-year-old’s future had been the subject of plenty of speculation in recent months, but his decision brings stability as the Saints continue to lock away a core of young talent.
Windhager joins Saints’ growing core
Windhager now sits alongside teammates Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, Mattaes Phillipou, Max Hall, Mitchito Owens, Jack Higgins and Hugh Boxshall, who have all committed to the club in recent times.
“We’ve been building something strong together over the past few years, and I’m proud to play my role in that,” Windhager said in a statement released by the club.

EGM of Football David Misson praised both the player’s progress and his influence within the group: “Since joining us as a teenager via our Academy, Marcus has worked hard to become a reliable and versatile player who will leave no stone unturned in getting the best out of himself and those around him.
“His decision to recommit reflects the shared belief across the playing group in where we’re heading and the collective determination to achieve it together. Marcus is one of many young players driving the standards on and off the field, and it’s exciting to see this group continuing to grow as one.”
Drafted with Pick 47 in 2021, Windhager has already clocked up 75 games for the Saints.
