Hawthorn premiership player Xavier Ellis has urged West Coast to try and lure Lachie Neale to the club this trade period, following reports the dual Brownlow Medallist could be seeking a return to WA.
Drafted by Fremantle in 2011, Neale played his first seven seasons for the Dockers before joining Brisbane at the end of 2018.
The 32-year-old is contracted to the Lions until the end of 2026, however the Eagles are reportedly interested in acquiring the star midfielder, should he request a move back to the west.
Speaking to 10 News Perth, Ellis said the Lions co-captain would be the ideal mentor for West Coast's developing squad.

"I think it's a great fit for West Coast," Ellis said.
"Lachie Neale might cost a second round (pick), but at least those young kids have got someone to look up to, someone to drive standards, someone to impress.
"I'd absolutely love it if they could get Lachie Neale to the club."
Ellis' comments come after Fremantle football boss Joe Brierty seemingly ruled out a reunion with the former Docker while speaking to the media on Thursday.
"I think there's been a few misses about Lachie (Neale) over the journey," Brierty said.
"He's an amazing talent but we feel like our midfield is in a pretty good place at the moment.
"Even in the exit meetings there's a lot of guys asking for more midfield minutes.
"We feel like we're in a good place and I'm sure Lachie and his partner and the kids are pretty happy where they are."
