Bobby Hill has clowned Collingwood great Tony Shaw - literally.

In the wake of the Pies' preliminary final loss to Brisbane, Shaw claimed on 3AW that the 2023 premiers should look to trade the Norm Smith medallist, who was absent in Saturday's clash after he was unable to earn a recall to the side.

"Well that's something they've got to look at now. I'd be really looking and seeing what happens trade-wise, what you can get for Bobby Hill," Shaw said.

"It's a horrible situation but he's probably got good fodder at the moment, you could get a couple of draft picks. It just doesn't look like it's working for him down here."

Hill had only managed one game since round 15, as he took time off for personal reasons.

After only training sporadically late in the home-and-away season, Hill had put forward his case for a return to the side, starring in a scratch match against Geelong while training consistently.

But coach Craig McRae decided it was too soon to bring back the star small forward, instead leaving the door ajar for a return in a potential Grand Final, which ultimately didn't eventuate.

In response to Shaw's comments, which were posted on 3AW's Instagram account, Hill simply left a clown emoji, making his feelings clear.

In a separate post on his personal Instagram page, Hill briefly reflected on his 2025 season, while sharing some optimism for next year.

"2025 was full of ups and downs, but I’m grateful for the support I’ve had along the way. Here’s to making 2026 even better!" he said.

The Pies badly missed Hill's speed and his ability to attack the goals, as they fell short by 29 points against the Lions, who Hill kicked four goals against in the 2023 Grand Final.
