Spanish football club Real Madrid C.F. is a professional football club situated in Madrid, Spain. The Spanish club Real Madrid was founded on 6 March 1902. The Real Madrid is consider to be one of the most successful club of all time as it has won a record thirty-one La Liga titles, seventeen Spanish Cups, a record nine European Cups and two UEFA Cups. It all started in 1905 when Real Madrid won first official title in the history of the club after defeating Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Cup final. In 1912, Real Madrid team finally got its own ground which was known as Campo de O'Donnell. In 1929 first Spanish league La Liga was founded and Real Madrid finished the league on second spot behind Barcelona. Real Madrid won its first League title in the 1931 season and won the League again the following year, and thus became the first side to have won the championship twice. In 1945 Santiago Bernabéu Yeste became president of Real Madrid and he brought several changes for the club, firstly Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and the Ciudad Deportiva were rebuilt and in 1953, he embarked upon a strategy of signing world-class players from abroad, the most prominent of them being the signing of Alfredo di Stéfano. Thus, he built the world's first multinational side. Real Madrid performed quite well between 1956 and 1960 and won the European Cup five times in a row. In 1970s, Real Madrid won 5 league championships and 3 Spanish Cups but lost to Chelsea in final of UEFA CUP, it was the first time when Real Madrid reached the final of UEFA Cup. In early 1980s it seems that Real Madrid success has started to decline in domestic league but 1985 to1989 they won consecutive La Liga titles. In 1990s stong international players were brought into the club to strengthen the team squad such as Roberto Carlos, Predrag Mijatovic, Davor Šuker and Clarence Seedor. In July 2000, Florentino Pérez was elected club president and he bought some famous players such as Zidane, Ronaldo, Luís Figo, Roberto Carlos, Raúl González and David Beckham. Due to the present of world class in the team Real Madrid fail to win any major trophy for next three seasons. In 2006 Fabio Capello was appointed the head coach and he helped the side to win the Spanish League after four years. Real Madrid ended the 2008 season with the 31st league title and the first consecutive league title in eighteen years.
Real Madrid always wore white shirts and shorts and dark blue socks. Real's traditional away colours are all black or all purple.
