French football player William Gallas was born on 17 August 1977 in Asnières-sur-Seine, France. He is currently playing in premier League for Arsenal as a defender. Gallas started playing football in Clairefontaine academy from there he graduated.
He started his professional career at second division SM Caen helping them to promotion as champions in 1996. In 1997 he was subsequently transferred to Olympique Marseille where he spent four seasons. He made his debut in the UEFA Champions League playing for Marseille, and he also played against Chelsea in that competition in 2000. In 2001, Claudio Ranieri Chelsea manger bought Gallas from Marseille in May 2001 for £6.2 million. Gallas was part of Chelsea's team which won back-to-back Premier League titles and a League Cup under José Mourinho. In 2006, Gallas was transferred to Arsenal as part of a deal that took Ashley Cole to Chelsea and Arsenal also received the sum of £5 million. Gallas signed a four-year contract with Arsenal. Gallas made his international debut with France national team in 2002 against Slovenia in a Euro 2004 qualifier.
