Mahamadou Diarra Biography

The talented midfielder Mahamadou Diarra was born in Mali on May 18, 1981. He is current;y playing for Real Madrid as defensive mid-fielder in Spanish League. In early age when he started playing for CSK Bamako youth team, his talent became obvious and, in 1998, he was called to play in the Malian First Division. While playing in the Malian First Division, Mahamadou Diarra was nicknamed Djila after a great Malian football player that had the same aggressive and robust style on the football field. Soon after his debut in the Malian First Division, European football opened its gates for the talented Malian midfielder. In the 1998-1999 seasons, Mahamadou Diarra performed quite well due to that he was soon offered a professional contract with the SBV Vitesse Arnhem team in the Netherlands. During his contract with the Dutch team, he improved his technical game and helped his team finish among the top six teams in the Dutch League two seasons in a row.
In 2002, Mahamadou Diarra signed with Olympique Lyonnais. The talented midfielder contributed to his team's success as it conquered four consecutive League titles. Due to its great performance at the French team, Mahamadou Diarra was sought after by some of Europe's most successful football teams, including Manchester United and Real Madrid. On August 18, 2006, Mahamadou Diarra signed with Real Madrid for 26 million Euros and went on to become one of the most valuable football players in the world. Diarra strong game and his talent in handling the ball made him one of the most popular midfielders at Real Madrid. In 2007-2008 he played a vital role for Real Madrid in winning the Spanish La Liga cup.
