Matthias Askew, who plays Defensive tackle and wears jersey number 99 for the Denver Broncos in the National Football League, was born on July 1, 1982, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He stands 6 feet 5 inches and weighs 302 lbs. After playing college football at Michigan State, he was drafted in the 4th round in 2004, 114th pick overall.


He made his professional debut in 2004 while playing for the Cincinnati Bengals.


Before joining the Denver Broncos in 2008, he has also been a member of the Cincinnati Bengals from 2004–2005 and Washington Redskins from 2007–2008.
