Rocky Marciano biography

Rocky Marciano, who is a former professional boxer, was born in Near Newton, Iowa on September 1, 1923, stands 5 feet 11 inches. He made his professional debut on March 17, 1949 with a 3rd round KO against Lee Epperson in Holyoke, MA. Also known as The Brockton Blockbuster and The Rock from Brockton, he has fought 49 times, winning 49 with 43 of those wins via knockout.


He was World Heavyweight Champion from September 23, 1952 – April 27, 1956.


He was awarded the Hickok Belt Winner in 1952 and Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year in 1952, 1954 and 1955.


He is the only heavyweight champion to end his career undefeated.


He died on August 31, 1969 in a plane crash.
